HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The basketball team and Pastor Troy of Fellowship of Faith teamed up to give out free bags of groceries to those in need.
The distribution of the bags was in a drive-thru style fashion to keep things safe and contactless.
The team's head coach wants to instill a strong sense of community service into the team.
"This is what we're trying to teach our players is the life lessons. After their career, you know, that's part of their job, is to always give and not always try to receive," said Dylan Howard, head coach, A&M men's basketball.
Helping others out makes what this team does together - bigger than basketball.
"When you do something off the court it builds bonds that you'll always have for the rest of your life, so, and then it shows also that it's bigger than just our program, like, you wanna help the people around you, cause they support us and we wanna support them," said Brandon Houston, team captain, A&M men's basketball.
The team wants the community to know that the support they receive does not go unnoticed, and providing a basic necessity, such as food, is just one of the ways that they returned that support back to the community.
