Bearded Warriors partnered with Sport Clips on University Drive Wednesday morning to offer free haircuts for veterans in need.
The idea for the event was started by a member of Bearded Warriors, who won a bundle of free haircuts at Sports Clips following a radio contest for best beard. Instead of using the haircuts for himself, he talked to the owner of Sports Clips and came up with the idea to help local veterans get cuts.
More than 30 veterans were served with fresh haircuts. Each one also walked away with a new hoodie jacket, gloves, and toiletry items.
Items such as coats, blankets, gloves, travel size toiletries and packaged non-perishable food items (beef jerky, sunflower seeds, trail mix, etc) will also be collected.
Remaining toiletries, jackets, and gloves were taken to homeless veterans as well as the Downtown Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army.
For those who would like to donate items, there are drop off points at all Kickn My Habit locations in Huntsville, Madison, and Athens. If you have questions, please reach out to Bearded Warriors via their Facebook page and send a message.
