Former Limestone County judge pleads guilty to three felony charges

Doug Patterson faces a prison sentence and has been ordered to make restitution to victims.

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — Former Limestone County judge Doug Patterson faces up to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to three felonies.

Patterson pled guilty to:

  • The intentional use of office or official position for personal gain (Class B felony); 
  • Financial exploitation of the elderly in the first degree (Class B felony); and
  • Theft of property in the third degree (Class D felony)

Patterson waived his right to appeal and agreed to serve whatever legal sentence is imposed by the court.

Patterson will also have to pay more than $72,000 in restitution to the victims.
