Free grocery box giveaways on Saturday, Dec. 18

Union Chapel M.B. Church and Refuge Church are giving away hundreds of food boxes.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Need help with food for yourself or your family?

Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church members will hold a free food box giveaway on Saturday, December 18, 2021, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Church members will distribute 400 Christmas food boxes filled with nonperishable and fresh food items. To ensure social distancing, members of the public will remain in their vehicles for drive-thru pick-up service. One box per vehicle will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Union Chapel M.B. Church has been distributing food boxes and hot lunches throughout the pandemic to anyone in need.

To date they have:

  • Started grocery box giveaway in May 2020.
  • Started serving hot lunches in July 2020.
  • Distributed over 2,300 boxes of groceries in 2020 which fed over 9,170 people.
  • Distributed over 4,652 boxes of groceries which fed over 18,608 people.
  • Prepared and served 4,000 hot lunches. 

This Saturday marks their 21st grocery box giveaway during the pandemic.

Refuge Church is partnering with Huntsville City Schools, One Gen Away, JANSON Communications and some incredible local churches to give away 40,000 lbs of free groceries this Saturday, December 18 at Milton Frank Stadium. 

This is a drive-thru distribution. Each vehicle will receive one grocery cart full of food. You will not need to show ID. Groceries will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. 

Grocery distribution begins at approximately 9:00AM.
