Who's closed on July 5 to celebrate July 4?

Essential police and fire personnel will remain on duty on July 4 and 5.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Municipal offices in several cities will be closed on Monday, July 5, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

Huntsville

These closures include Huntsville Animal Services and Municipal Court. City offices are expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6.

In addition to city offices being closed, garbage collection will be delayed by one day on the week of July 5 with Monday's collection being picked up on Tuesday.

Public transit, including Orbit and Access, will operate on a normal schedule.

Regarding Parks & Recreation, all facilities and the Showers Splash Pad will be closed. The Huntsville Aquatics Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Bicentennial and Everybody Can Play splash pads will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

According to the city, essential police and fire personnel will remain on duty on July 4.

Athens

City offices will be closed on Monday, July 5. This will not impact sanitation services. 

Decatur

City Hall services, with the exception of the Decatur Police Department and Decatur Fire & Rescue, will be closed on Monday, July 5 in observance of the holiday.

There will be no changes to the household recycling or garbage collection schedules.
