How do I apply to be on the Huntsville City Schools school board?
The Council will accept applications for the District 4 School Board position from Monday, May 10, through Friday, May 21. To apply, candidates must submit a resume and cover letter to City Attorney Trey Riley’s office and meet the criteria outlined in the approved resolution.
Among the basic qualifications for applicants:
- Must be a qualified elector of the City of Huntsville
- Must have residency within the Huntsville city limits and within the limits of District 4 for at least 90 days prior to election by the City Council
- Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
The city says that once applications are closed, an application review committee appointed by the Council President, consisting of two Council members and two private Huntsville citizens, will assess the candidates.
The selection committee will identify five finalists to be interviewed during a public Council meeting at a date to be determined. A complete timeline of the candidate election process is available here.
