MADISON, Ala — Nearly a quarter of the expected returning student body of Madison City Schools have not been re-enrolled electronically, Superintendent Ed Nichols said Thursday. It was the first topic of discussion in his publicly-posted district update ahead of the back-to-school season.
"Students who have not re-enrolled by July 18th will be withdrawn," Nichols wrote. This means they must enroll as new students, produce all documents including birth certificates, immunization records, etc., and lose any classes previously scheduled through requests in spring."
Nichols said that instructions on how to complete the re-enrollment process were emailed "several times" to custodial parents. He suggested you check your spam folder and ensure emails from the address "noreplyregistration@powerschool.com" are accepted by your email client into your regular inbox.
To re-enroll your student into MCS, log into your parent portal Parent sign-in, and click the link entitled Returning Student Enrollment 2024-2025 at the bottom of the left sidebar which takes you to the website for PowerSchool Enrollment.
Be prepared to upload a copy of your driver’s license and proof of residency which includes your property tax or lease agreement and also a current utility bill. You must repeat this process for any additional student you have returning to MCS. If you have forgotten your credentials for the parent portal, please contact one of the following. cmmcquitty@madisoncity.k12.al.us ; mcox@madisoncity.k12.al.us; or dcwhite@madisoncity.k12.al.us
Nichols also discussed open houses throughout the district. Open houses will run from 5-7 p.m. Elementary school open houses will be July 30, middle schools on Aug. 6, and high schools on Aug. 8.
