HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — There are plenty of events happening this weekend. Here’s a look at some of what’s going on across the Tennessee Valley!
Holiday Market at Christmas on the River - The Holiday Market at Christmas on the River, presented by Redstone Federal Credit Union, will take place on Saturday, December 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ditto Landing State Docks.
Cullman Christkindlmarkt - The holiday season arrives in Cullman with a festive celebration blending German traditions from November 21 to December 23.
Huntsville Anime-Fest - The Embassy Suites Hotel will host the event on December 15. Tickets are available for purchase online or at the door.
6th Annual Rocket City Trombone Christmas - The 6th Annual Rocket City Trombone Christmas concert will take place on Saturday, December 14, at 2 p.m. at Stovehouse in Huntsville. This free event is open to the public.
Rocket City Jazz Orchestra Christmas Concert - The Rocket City Jazz Orchestra will return to the Downtown Huntsville Public Library on December 14 for a festive holiday concert, performing a mix of new and classic Christmas songs. The free event begins at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Event Space.
The Living Christmas Tree - The Living Christmas Tree, a choral and orchestral holiday presentation featuring a 39-foot tree adorned with thousands of lights, will be held at First Baptist Church of Huntsville from December 12-15. Performances are free, with reservations available online.
Cookies and Stories with Santa & Mrs. Claus - Children of all ages can decorate cookies, meet Santa, and enjoy a festive storytime with Mrs. Claus. The event will take place on December 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Laser Holiday Show - "Laser Holidays" at Campus 805 offers a unique way to celebrate the season with a festive mix of classic and modern holiday music set to stunning laser artwork. The family-friendly event will be held on December 14 and 21 at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., with tickets available for $10 per person plus taxes/fees.
Christmas at the Corner - The 4th season of a festive family event featuring Santa, crafts, cookie decorating, and live music will take place December 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22 from 5-9 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person, with children 2 and under admitted free, and the event includes a petting zoo, sleigh bell ride, and free hot chocolate.
Huntsville Ballet Company Presents The Nutcracker - The Huntsville Ballet will present its 56th production of The Nutcracker, performed with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, from December 13-15. Featuring Tchaikovsky's iconic score and performances by students from the Huntsville Ballet School.
Grant Funk Railroad Christmas Display - The Grant Funk Railroad, a garden railroad and pond display at 4502 Clyde Circle in Owens Crossroads, is open to the public during the holiday season. The display will be available on select dates in December, with hours ranging from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting.
Jingle Jamboree - A festive holiday celebration will take place at the mall on December 14 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., featuring storytime with Santa, holiday activities, and performances by the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, Storybook Acres, Waterloo Elementary Show Choir, and The Cadillacs.
Galaxy of Lights - Huntsville Botanical Garden will be hosting special events for all to enjoy from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31, 2024. Walking Nights will be held Dec. 4–8, and Dec. 18–26 (closed Christmas Day), while Driving Nights are scheduled for Dec. 9–17 and Dec. 27–31. Dog Nights are set for Nov. 18-19, Nov. 25-26, Dec. 23-24, with $5 admission per dog.
Merry & Bright Wrapping Station - Offers free gift-wrapping services on December 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a limit of four gifts per person.
12 Nights of Santa - Offers a festive experience with activities like writing a letter to Santa, decorating gingerbread cookies, and visiting with Santa himself. The event runs from December 12-23, with different hours on weekdays and weekends, and features a variety of holiday-themed activities for all ages.

Christmas Card Lane Walking Nights - The third annual Christmas Card Lane, featuring festive 4'x8' holiday cards created by local artists, companies, and organizations, is open along the Tennessee River Greenway. Visitors can enjoy the mile-long display daily from sunrise to 10 p.m. through December 31, with weekend shuttles available from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on select dates.
Reindeer Rails - Returns to Ditto Landing for select dates this December. Visitors can enjoy the festive display on various days between December 1 and December 28, with special hours listed online.
North Star Limited - The North Alabama Railroad Museum is hosting its annual Santa Train Ride, an extra special nighttime excursion where children can visit Santa, enjoy treats, and receive a present. The event runs on select December evenings, with tickets ranging from $30 to $50, and includes warm cookies, hot chocolate, and a souvenir for VIP guests.
Athens-Limestone Tinsel Trail - Return to Big Spring Memorial Park from November 21 to December 31. The event is free and open to the public.
Parents' Night Out - Parents can enjoy a night out while their kids have fun at a supervised climbing event, held on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. The "Parents' Night Out" runs from 6 to 8 p.m.
Rocket City Bluegrass Jam - Weekly bluegrass jam on Sundays at Straight to Ale. Happening from 4 to 8 p.m.
