HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is going from rocket power to solar power!
On Thursday, officials from Huntsville Utilities, Seven States, and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center broke ground on Project Liftoff.
This project will serve as an educational exhibit that integrates solar power, battery storage, and electronic vehicle charging for visitors.
Guests will learn how renewable energy is beneficial and sustainable both on Earth and in space.
USSRC Executive Director and CEO, Louie Ramirez said, "We'll also gain the benefit of having excess energy that it produces off it's solar power which will help us reduce our cost of our electricity which is a very valuable thing for us as we're working through all of our challenges as we go forward."
Construction is set to be finished by the end of September.
