It’s National Wear Red Day, a day to show a little extra love to all the women in our lives by focusing on them and their heart health.
Heart disease the number one killer of women. Approximately one woman dies from it every single minute. But historically, it rarely got the attention it deserved.
So in 2004, the American Heart Association developed National Wear Red Day. You’ll see landmarks, your coworkers, and yes, news anchors sporting red.
But that only goes so far.
Experts say ladies, go to your doctor. Get your numbers checked. Try to lead a healthy lifestyle. That’s perhaps the best medicine. And know your family history of heart disease.
Knowledge is power for you and the women you love.
