Zippo is recalling about 660,000 Ronson Brand Tech Torch units due to a fire hazard.
According to the recall, the Ronson Tech Torch can continue to produce a flame after the activation trigger is released into the “off” position, posing a fire hazard. Zippo has identified 36 reports in the U.S. of the torch continuing to operate after being turned off, including one report of minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
If you have one of these torches, you should immediately stop using them and contact the firm for instructions on receiving a refund in the form of a gift card.
Ronson Tech Torches have been sold at Wal-Mart, Ace Hardware, and other stores nationwide, and online at Zippo.com and Amazon.com from Feb. 2010 through July 2019 for between $30 and $40.
