ATHENS, Ala. — This week a local youth football league from Athens is competing for a National title against fifteen other 10u teams. The tournament is held in Orlando, Florida and the Athens Golden Eagles are the only team in any age group representing the state of Alabama.
The American Youth Football league is one of the largest in the world. Each team will participate in weight protected, age protected, all-star, and instructional divisions to compete for the title of national champion.
The 10U Golden Eagles from Athens lost their game on Monday against a team from Fort Worth, Texas. That loss moved them to the consolation bracket, where they will play again Friday at 2pm.
They should finish within the top 12 teams in the nation.
