SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — Alabama Crimson Tide legend, Trent Richardson, was the special guest at the Scottsboro Sports Cards and Memorabilia Show at the Goose Pond Civic Center on Saturday. Now 31-years-old, Richardson still gets a kick out of interacting with fans.
"It's amazing, man," Richardson said. "It's a blessing. It's the fans in the stands cheering me on night after night playing ball. Most of the time, this is what I do it for, it's the fans. I love that enjoyment, especially my kids seeing it. My mom seeing it for the first time, she was so shocked. She was ready to fight. She didn't know what was going on. She was seeing a whole bunch of people running up to me. She was trying to protect her baby. It's enjoyment, man and I love it."
Perhaps a big reason why signing autographs means so much to Richardson, is because he grew up with pictures of football players on his wall like Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders. He used that as motivation.
"Football was always my love. I've been playing football since I was six years old. Having those pictures up, it made a big difference between being a regular athlete and an elite athlete."
