HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — While over 60 local restaurants are participating in Huntsville Restaurant Week this year, WZDX is going to focus on just one for today... Canadian Bakin... yes, that's b-a-k-i-n, NOT bacon.
Canadian Bakin encourages the consumption of carbs... 'cause let's face it... who doesn't love a good piece of bread? Especially when it is made with care.
"We do everything with full intention like the coffee and everything -- but the bread is -- everything is fresh, whenever you buy here, it's made that day. And we have a whole team of people back there that are specialized in making bread, so it's a one of a kind of thing that you can't get anywhere else," said Matt Johnson, owner of Canadian Bakin.
This 'baked fresh daily' bagel shop will offer three different limited-time items until the 22nd; two different drinks, an ice cream treat and a special bagel sandwich.
The first limited-time drink is called the Iced Chili Limeade, which is a freshly-squeezed limeade with a house-made chili syrup for $5. You can also add a shot of espresso to kick it up another notch.
Secondly, there is the Honeysuckle Cold Brew for $4.50, which is a smooth cold brew, lightly sweetened with a house-made honeysuckle syrup, this one is actually available all month.
Now time for that ice cream treat called the Espresso Affogato! Is it coffee? Is it dessert? Well, it is vanilla ice cream topped with a shot of Canadian Bakin's 3030 Coffee Roasters espresso and a drizzle of maple syrup.
And lastly, the star of the show, named after the saving of a star the Free Brie-tney bagel sandwich! This sandwich consists of sliced apples, double creme brie, thyme-honey, arugula and caramelized onions on a freshly baked bagel or bread of your choice. Served with a side of chips or fruit for $8.50.
