MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It’s Halloween time, and folks across the Mid-South are getting ready for the trick-or-treating, candy, and of course, costumes.
That includes the nurses and babies as NICUs across the Greater Memphis area.
At Saint Francis Hospital, the nurses took the newborns on a trip to the big top this year. The precious babes have become the ringmaster, mime, lion and tiger, even the world’s strongest baby.
“We want to create joy and memories for our NICU families,” said Kerry Thompson, a Saint Francis NICU nurse who helped choose the costumes and took the photographs. “The last few years that we have been dressing the babies up for various holidays has been an uplifting experience for our staff and the families. Inserting a spurt of fun and whimsical humor into what can be a stressful time for families really has an immeasurable impact.”
Over at the NICU at Regional One Health, several superheroes made appearances, including Batman and Superman, along with the minions, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse, a surgeon, a fox, and a tiger.
