Local businesses are starting to require less masking

Local businesses are excited about the world opening up after a hard year. Many are also changing masking guidelines after a recent announcement made by the CDC.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The CDC announced that if you're fully vaccinated you can resume activities without wearing a mask or socially distancing unless required by a business.

This is prompting many local businesses to change their masking guidelines.

Lowe Mill only requires those who are not fully vaccinated to mask up.

"We're so happy that we've gotten to this point in our vaccination schedule that we've got a lot of people vaccinated and we can be out here in public together again. It's so exciting to see more traffic at Lowe Mill and I think it gives us all a little bit of a feeling of confidence to move forward now that we're getting vaccinated. We're excited to see so many people here - it's wonderful," said Suzy Naumann, owner of Suzy's Pops in Lowe Mill.

While other businesses leave masking solely up to their customers.

"It's strictly up to the customer, if they wanna wear a mask they can wear one in here. We don't require anyone to wear one," said Mark Komara, owner of Furniture Factory Bar & Grill.

After a hard year, business owners are excited to see more people feeling comfortable about getting out.

"I'm not gonna lie to you, last year was really hard, especially for food businesses but we made it. There's a lot of help out there for us, from the governments but what we all been waiting for is for people to come back, and we couldn't rush that because we want people to feel confident about coming out into public but it's starting to happen and it's just a wonderful thing. We're really happy about it, I think it's gonna be a good year for business," said Naumann.

"It feels great, I mean obviously - I want people here, we run a good show here, so it's a good thing. I'm really glad," said Komara.

Many businesses still require masks, so when going out, bring your mask just in case.
