Have you seen an offer on social media for a $75 Costco coupon, allegedly being given away by Costco? Don’t fall for it.
Costco posted on its Facebook page that the “too good to be true” deal is, in fact, a fake.
According to comments on the post, some customers have been getting emails offering fake coupons as well. In response to one of these comments, Costco said:
Thanks for letting us know about the phishing/scam emails that you’ve received purporting to be from Costco. We certainly appreciate your concern and we’ll make the appropriate teams aware. If you have any additional information you would like to provide, please feel free to email us at costcocare@costco.com.
The fake coupon, much like the one below, has been a recurring problem for the retailer. The scam works by promising social media users that a voucher will be sent to them if they share the image of a fake Costco coupon said to be worth $75. Do not do it, Costco says.
