If you’ve wanted to play college football at the highest level, here’s your chance.
The Alabama A&M football team will host walk-on tryouts Aug. 18-19.
A walk-on meeting is set for 5 p.m., Aug. 18, in the Elmore Gym Lecture Hall. Attendance is mandatory.
Prospective student-athletes who pass the screening process will be notified Aug. 19. The tryout is 4:30 p.m. Aug. 19 in Louis Crews Stadium.
Candidates must be cleared to play NCAA Division I football by the NCAA Eligibility Center by Aug. 18.
To be eligible to try out as a walk-on student-athlete, a student must be a full-time student at Alabama A&M University and be enrolled in at least 12 hours of undergraduate work or nine hours of graduate work.
All student-athletes are required to have primary insurance coverage.
Other requirements are:
1. Freshmen: Meet NCAA initial eligibility standards. Visit www.eligibilitycenter.com for more details.
2. Sophomores: Have passed 24 hours.
3. Juniors: Have passed 48 degree applicable hours.
4. Your cumulative GPA must be at least a 2.0 and meet the percentage for degree requirement established by the NCAA.
5. Must have played high school football.
6. Must have at least 2 years of eligibility left.
7. All prospective walk-on candidates must have a physical within the past six months and know their Sickle Cell status.
