An Alabama lawmaker wants schools to require students to play sports based on the gender on their birth certificates.

Representative Chris Pringle from Mobile is sponsoring the bill which wouldn’t allow students in public schools to play sports that conflict with their biological gender.

If passed, females would not be able to play on any boy’s team and males couldn’t play on a girl’s team.

Many people who are for the bill agree there are biological differences between boys and girls that could give some players an advantage, but others disagree.

The bill would not apply to sports where both girls and boys are allowed to compete together.
