The day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year, and Alabama State Troopers say you can expect the roads to stay busy through this weekend.
Because the roads will be congested, ALEA is reminding drivers that it’s against the law to stay in the left lane for more than a mile and a half without passing another vehicle. The new Anti-Road Rage law went into effect in September.
Troopers say the point of the law is for fewer accidents to happen because of road rage.
Trooper Curtis Summerville said, “There’s a reason this is called the Anti-Road Rage law. For so long, driving in the left lane has been the number one cause of road rage, and people get upset because you won’t get out of their way.”
ALEA says they will be out heavily patrolling Thanksgiving weekend looking for distracted drivers and drivers under the influence.
