WZDX was LIVE at a news conference with Madison County District Attorney Robert Broussard.
The shooting has been ruled justified. The DA’s office has stated that its involvement in the case is over.
The DA is sharing some of the evidence from the incident, including videos and photos from officers’ body cams and transcriptions of audio.
They stated that they have released the bodycam information now because the investigation is included, reiterating as they have all along that they do not release evidence during an active investigation. They also stated that they have not released the entire videos do to legal issues and the fact that the bodycams and body cam video do not belong to the DA’s Office.
The DA’s Office stated that they chose to release these pieces of evidence in the public interest. The official cause of death is gunshot wounds.
When questioned about other issues in the case related to the Fletcher’s behavior, Broussard repeatedly stated that their job was to determine whether or not the officers were justified in their actions.
