The Huntsville community is shaken after the shooting death of Huntsville Police Officer, Billy Clardy III.
According to Officer Down Memorial Page, Officer Clardy is the 7th officer to die this year in Alabama. We spoke to a few locals, they say they’re saddened and in disbelief.
Officer Clardy was killed in the line of duty while conducting a drug investigation near Lavert Street. He was shot in the heart just above his bulletproof vest.

Officer Clardy was a well decorated officer and a 14-year Huntsville PD veteran– receiving 19 commendations, and 8 letters of appreciation just during his time in Huntsville.
