HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Lashay B In The Midday is determined to help girls find the dresses of their dreams this year despite the pandemic. Last year's event was postponed due to the pandemic and to keep folks safe, this year will look a little different as well.
"This year we're taking major precautions. We're actually extending the hours so we can escort the girls in and continue to social distance. It's gonna be similar to a drive-thru, they will have to call before they can enter the building and everyone will remain in their car until they're told to come in. Again, so we can continue to social distance and the girls can still have time to hopefully find their perfect dress," said Lashay B Townsend, On-Air Personality for WEUP-FM.
There are currently around 400 dresses that will be available to prom-goers on Saturday, March 6.
"I'm hoping to get rid of all of them. It is always overwhelming but it's a great problem to have, and so, we had tons of dresses left over from last year because we had to cancel and then the community has actively been donating all year long," said Townsend.
This is important to Townsend because it's important to these young women.

"At the time of the young women attending prom, it's one of the main things and most important things to them. So, I just feel like this is necessary for, if nothing else, a boost of confidence," said Townsend.

The drive will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m on Saturday, March 6.
