GERALDINE, Alabama — The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Geraldine man on two counts of assault following a shooting that left two people injured Sunday afternoon.
The sheriff's office said law enforcement responded to a call in the area of Park Street in Geraldine at approximately 12:50 p.m. Upon arrival, law enforcement located a man and woman who had both been shot.
The two were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office analyzed the scene and arrested 34-year-old Joshua Smith of Geraldine on two counts of first-degree assault.
An investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be pending.
