JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. — A man from Section is facing charges after allegedly attacking people with a hammer.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says that 34-year-old Ralph Lee Billy Wayne Steed is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree burglary, attempted second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and cruelty to animals.
The incident happened on October 2 when the sheriff’s office and the Section Police Department responded to reports of a man armed with a hammer entering homes on Tammy Little Drive.
Police say Steed forced his way into two homes, assaulting two people and a dog during the attacks. When officers arrived, they found him inside one of the homes, still holding the hammer. Steed was tased and taken into custody with help from a deputy.
Steed is currently in the Jackson County Jail, and no bond has been set.
The two people who were assaulted were transported to Highlands Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
