MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. — A Morgan County inmate was charged with assault after allegedly assaulting a corrections officer.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, inmate Quincey Jamar Wilkerson reportedly punched the officer in the face while the officer was responding to a dispute between inmates.
Despite suffering facial injuries, the officer was able to use a Taser on Wilkerson while other corrections officers detained him.
Following the incident, investigators charged Wilkerson with second-degree assault on a police officer.
The corrections officer took some time off to recover from his injuries but has since returned to work.
Wilkerson was taken into custody in September after months of running following a shooting investigation from June.
