After 30 years of serving the Rocket City, Madison Square Mall is coming down.
Demolition crews began tearing down the building Monday morning.
Brick by brick, pieces of the mall came down.
Passersby stopped and took pictures of what’s being called the end of an era.
“This was again the mall, if you will, had a lot of exciting days, spent a lot money here. I just wanted to come by and take that last look,” said Wiley Day.
Demolition at Madison Square should be complete within the next four months.
The mall will be replaced with the new MidCity development and Topgolf has been announced as one of the anchor stores.
