The Downtown Rescue Mission has a brand new 30,000 square foot facility.

Community leaders were on hand at the ribbon cutting for the facility designed for single women and children.

The $7,000,000 facility offers gospel-centered programs and a 9 month program allowing the women and children to interact with each other in the classroom settings as they prepare to move forward with life.

“Women can get off the streets or if they are looking for programs to help get them off of addictions… this is the place for them to come,” says Downtown Rescue Mission President, Keith Overholt.

There is an emergency service that allows women and children to come and go as they please, and the second option is a year long program.

“We are gonna double our capacity. We used to have about 90 women and children that we could take care of, and now this will take us over 210. We are excited about that because there were times where we used to say we don’t have anymore room and now we don’t have to say that,” he adds.

The facility broke ground last year.
