MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — Moores Mill Intermediate School was named a Model Professional Learning Community At Work (PLC) school, Madison County Schools announced on Thursday.
Only 200 schools nationwide received this honor and only three are in Alabama. According to the district, the school's implementation of the PLC process was a major contributing factor to the improved achievement of its students.
“I am so proud of the dedication of our faculty and staff to the hard work involved in the PLC process. We are honored to be recognized and feel we are on the right path to improvement,” said Moores Mill Intermediate School Principal Daniel Evans, Jr.
The district said PLC schools and districts are defined by educators who recognize the importance of ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve students. The three major ideas of PLC are as follows:
- Focus on learning
- Build a collaborative culture
- Create a results orientation
“This is a great milestone for Moores Mill. It’s rewarding to see this recognition since it is based on such rigorous criteria and subsequent proof you have met these standards,” said Madison County Schools Superintendent Allen Perkins.
