HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is set to host a series of academic and athletic camps catering to students from pre-kindergarten through high school during the summer of 2024. As part of The University of Alabama System, UAH offers a different range of programs.
Students in grades 5-12 will have opportunities to learn more about various career paths, including business, cybersecurity, engineering, and nursing, through specialized programs organized by the UAH College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Nursing, and College of Science. The STEM-focused initiatives provided by the College of Science aim to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge for future academic endeavors. Additionally, UAH coaches will oversee athletic skills camps and offer training in sports such as baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, and lacrosse.
Among the highlights are the hands-on experiences and expert insights offered in two College of Business camps: Business Explorations and Young Women in Business. The College of Engineering's CyberCharged Camp and engineering camps cater to varying grade levels, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all participants.
A cybersecurity camp will also be available for high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing, covering cybersecurity topics.
For aspiring nurses, the Nursing Charger Summer Institute will have a three day camp utilizing the college's state-of-the-art Simulations and Learning Innovation Lab. Meanwhile, the Cap & Gown Project STEM Summer Institute, hosted by the College of Science, offers high school students a chance to prepare for college life with ACT preparation, college tours, research, and hands-on STEM activities.
