HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — We all know how impressionable the littles are when they start school for the first time, and for one teacher this group is her favorite! It's Kindergartners.
Meet this week's FOX54 Top Teacher, Alice Rehome, from Hampton Cove Elementary School!
“I've been teaching kindergarten for six years,” said Rehome. “That's my favorite part of the whole job are the kids. Kindergarten was always my dream job.”
Here at Hampton Cove Elementary School, Mrs. Rehome, is living the dream. “I love their stories, and the way they make you feel like a rock star. Kindergarten has a way of making you feel loved and wanted. I love to see their minds click.”
Rehome loves to keep her kids sharp too. That explains the pointy plants in her class. “We have a morning circle every morning, which is my favorite. That and literature. I love to do Morning Circle Time to hear their stories, to get their take on things,” said Rehome
Rehome’s Principal, Dr. Lakeeta Perkins, is proud she’s well-planted here at Hampton Cove Elementary School.
“Ms. Rehome is one of the most dynamic teachers on our faculty. She loves the kids. Sometimes I have to tell Ms. Rehome, ‘You love them too much. You gotta teach ‘em’. She loves her five year old. It is her calling, and it is a pleasure to work with her,” said Perkins.
As for other aspiring teachers, Rehome has some pointers for you:
“Just remember what you're here for and you're here for the kids. A lot of the other things I'm teaching today are hard, but if you remember what you're here for, which are the kids and finding joy in them, and that's what I always try to do, is find joy in them every day,” said Rehome.
