TONEY, Ala. — Congratulations to Annette Sears for being selected as this week's Valley's Top Teacher.
Mrs. Sears has taught at Madison Cross Roads Elementary for thirteen years, and has worked in education for a total of 23 years.
She considers it her number one priority to be the best she can be for her students. Mrs. Sears feels responsible for molding the next generation. Learning that a former student's parent, Sheri Langford, nominated her was a surprise.
Sheri Langford wrote to FOX54:
"Mrs. Spears has been teaching for many years and she hasn't lost her her passion for teaching as many teachers do along the years. She taught my son 5 years ago, and she is teaching today."
Her students and her job mean the world to her, and the secret to staying in the education industry is 'patience' according to Mrs. Sears.
"Patience. Always patience, and you've got to love everything that you do and know that some days are going to be hard but the next day is going to be fabulous."
Her students appreciate her patience and her dedication to her job. Fourth grader Alyssa Breyer says, "She is fun to learn with and she makes learning fun and cool."
