Emily Mallory is a FOX54 Top Teacher from Williams Elementary School!

Emily Mallory has been a teacher for twenty-four years.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — This Huntsville teacher has a reputation for loving her students like they're her own. People who know her say she greets her kiddos with a hug from when school starts to when it ends. However, her love doesn't stop there.

Meet this week's Top Teacher, Emily Mallory from Williams Elementary School!

There’s never a dull moment in Emily Mallory’s class. Mallory is motivated by her students’ wide eyes and bright smiles.

Mallory has taught for twenty-four years at Williams Elementary School, and for three of them - she’s taught kindergarteners.

“Yes, lots of singing, lots of dancing, lots of rhyming, making up silly stuff, reading stories about what we're learning and things like that,” Mallory said.

Mallory knows she has to get creative.

“We are actually learning to read three little words today. We actually have our Elf on the Shelf started. So they are all excited about that," Mallory said. "They want the elf to know what they're doing every day and they'll read to the elf and do different things like that.”

Mallory was tapped to be a kindergarten teacher because of her special connection with the littles.

“The assistant principal saw me with the kindergartners after school one day and said that I would be a good kindergarten teacher," Mallory said. "And so she moved (me) down.”

The assistant principal, Tenisha Cummings, says Mallory's personality radiates.

“She's always bright and bubbly and ready to just take on any task that we give her. Her students, she loves them. As you can see, they love her,” Cummings said.

“I love what I do every day. Every day it's a new adventure with this bunch,” Mallory said. “The hugs that I get from them every day. And not only the kindergartners, but the kids who've had me that are in eighth grade will still run and hug me.”
