FLORENCE, Ala. — We get a lot of top teacher nominations and most of the time it's from a fellow peer or a parent. However, today's top teacher was nominated by one of her own students!
It's why she's this week's Valley's Top Teacher. Meet Central High School's Business Education Teacher, Nena Dial!
For Business Education Teacher and FBLA Leader, Nena Dial, secondary school is just the start of her students’ journey.
“I love being around these older kids and watching them grow and develop and following them and seeing what they do after they graduate,” Dial said.
Her mission is to allow her students to see that the possibilities are endless. “Sometimes because we live in a smaller community, their experiences are limited. So I want to expose them to as much as possible,” Dial said.
“We take trips we have a lot of fun. We make memories. It means a lot to me,” she added.
“They went to the Titans and got to tour and kind of see how the sports team works,” said Central High School Assistant Principal, Jacob Fowler.
Her students say she’s super-involved, and so does her assistant principal, Jacob Fowler.
“She’s done a really good job of impacting all the way down to the elementary school here,” said Fowler.
For Dial, it’s the bond she forms with the students that keep her motivated.
“Most fun is just the relationship building with students and getting to know them as individuals and just watching them develop,” Dial said.
“I just hope that they know that I will always be of service to them and I will always help them in any way that I possibly can to follow their dreams and succeed,” added Dial.
