Hundreds gathered at Mae Jemison High School Saturday to come together for one last celebration before school starts.
Rock climbing, water slides, games, and face painting were all available to students at the Annual North Huntsville Celebrating Education Festival.
The festival even gave students the chance to head back to school with a new look, offering free haircuts. We spoke with Juan Carlos, of New Era Barbershop. He was one of the volunteer barbers, giving cuts to Huntsville students.
He says, “[On] the first day of the class they want to look good, you know? Thats what I came in today to do the haircuts for the kids. I like when the kids smile, you know? Because that’s my job.”
Huntsville City School students first day of school is August 5.
