CULLMAN, Ala. — Cullman Regional received a shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, December 14.
The facility said it plans to administer the first round of the vaccines to its employees on Tuesday, December 15.
"We will prioritize administration of the vaccine in accordance with the federal and state-approved guidelines that have been provided to us," said Cullman Regional Chief Medical Officer William Smith, MD. “We hope to eventually provide vaccines to all members of our healthcare team; however, we are currently working to vaccinate those frontline team members that are at highest risk of exposure."
Alabama initially received a total of 40,950 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Of those 40,950, Cullman Regional will receive 1,950 doses.
The facility has set up a vaccination clinic for frontline healthcare workers that is expected to open sometime during the week of December 14. Appointments will be required to ensure the efficient use of the available vaccine.
