MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — City leaders in Huntsville and Madison have announced plans to request to declare States of Emergency to take steps to help protect residents against the spread of the coronavirus.
According to a notice from Huntsville City Council, Mayor Tommy Battle will request declaring a three-week State of Emergency during a special meeting scheduled Monday March 16th at 2PM. The notice says the goal is to allow the city to "act quickly and take appropriate action, as needed, to protect the community against the spread of COVID-19".
The meeting will take place in the 1st Floor Council Chambers of City Hall, 308 Fountain Circle, 35801.
The notice says Mayor Battle spoke with Madison Mayor Paul Finley, who is also requesting to declare a State of Emergency.
The Madison City Council will hold a special called meeting to vote on the request on Monday, March 16th, at 2PM at 100 Hughes Road, 35758.
