Redstone Arsenal conducts 5K for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month, Redstone Arsenal's Army Substance Abuse Program office is hosting a 5K run/1K walk this Thursday.

The 'Out of the Darkness, Into the Light' 5K run and walk with the motto of 'One Team, One Fight' was organized to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

The event will take place on September 8 at the Child Wise Building on Vincent Drive. Registration for the event will open the morning of the race at 6:30 a.m. The race is set to start at 7 a.m. and those who participate are encouraged to wear neon colors to support suicide prevention awareness.

Brigadier General Christine A. Beeler, Commanding General of the Army Contracting Command is scheduled to give remarks prior the start of the race. A Wellness Resource Fair is also set to open at 8 a.m. and will have tables set up with suicide prevention resources and information.
