This week, the Huntsville Police Department is being assessed by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
The assessment is done to determine if the police department is an accredited law enforcement agency. Law enforcement officials from Oklahoma and Connecticut are looking into if the department meets professional standards. Today, CALEA heard about how Huntsville police are doing from public and agency employees in the city.
CALEA Assessor, Capt. Joe Race, said “So far, I mean, its impressive I think with the resources that they have, the things they’ve been able to do, and the willingness to help the community.”
Over the next two days, CALEA will evaluate how the police department operates as an agency and how they interact with the community.
