All four judges in Limestone County have recused themselves of presiding over the case of Sheriff Mike Blakely.
Last week, Sheriff Blakely was indicted on thirteen ethics and theft charges. Blakely has been the sheriff in Limestone County for nearly 40 years. Since the local judges have recused themselves, Alabama’s Supreme Court will be asked to appoint an out-of-town judge to preside over the case. Blakely’s case is being prosecuted by the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.
