Local artists stream live concerts during pandemic: How you can help support them

We’ve all been feeling the effects of this pandemic. But, for many artists, this can be particularly tough with few opportunities to perform.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — We’ve all been feeling the effects of this pandemic.

But, for many artists, this can be particularly tough with cancelled concerts, closed venues, and few opportunities to perform.

But, local artists aren’t letting this stop them. They’re taking to Facebook to perform live during the pandemic.

A public Facebook page/group called “Huntsville Musicians Live Streaming” gives them a chance to share their content. The page is organized by Purple19 Huntsville, a group that brings local content and creatives to the forefront.

From that page, we connected with Jordan Moore, otherwise known as ChillCity. He's a local artist from Huntsville. Moore tells us that the ability to perform live has helped local artists continue to spread joy and receive support from the community. Moore says, “They put their craft in this. They put their time and energy into this to bring people together to get people to realize ‘I can make it through this day’.”

You can listen to Jordan Moore live on his Facebook page or @TheOfficialChillCity on Instagram.

Some artists even have virtual tip jars you can give to in order to assist them financially.

Here's more on how you can help support local artists during this time….

Small arts businesses may be eligible for funding through Neighborhood Concepts, Inc., a Huntsville non-profit offering low-interest emergency loans to small businesses affected by COVID-19.
