LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — Limestone County officials say they arrested a man who confessed to impersonating a law enforcement official in no fewer than four Tennessee Valley counties, after first applying to become a bona fide officer.
18-year-old Logan Martin of Harvest was arrested Friday and charged with impersonating a peace officer. Captain Tammy Waddell said Martin was on their radar after receiving a tip that he had stolen the blue light apparatus from a Madison County Career Tech law enforcement vehicle and was using the lights to make traffic stops.
Captains Waddell and Caleb Durden interviewed Martin, who confessed to impersonating an officer in Limestone, Madison, and Jackson Counties in Alabama, as well as Lincoln County, Tennessee.
A search warrant was executed on Martin's car, where officers uncovered property belonging to various law enforcement agencies, including Huntsville Police, Madison County Sheriff's Office, and the Alabama Department of Law Enforcement (ALEA).
Some of the equipment included dash cameras, emergency lights, and a police radio. A photo provided by the department also showed a large kitchen knife, a flip-style knife, handcuffs, two stuffed toys, and an array of condoms.
Martin was booked at the Limestone County Detention Center, where he was later released on a $2,500 bond.
Limestone County officials are seeking more information on what happened during the traffic stops Martin made. He was driving a white, two-door 2008 Toyota Solara, with blue lights installed in the front and back of the vehicle.
If you believe you were stopped by Martin, you are asked to contact Captain Caleb Durden at (256) 232-0111.
