HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — UPDATE: The two adults killed in the fire on Pickett Drive in Huntsville on July 22, have both been identified. The Madison County Coroner identified the bodies as belonging to Michelle Spudes, age 54 and her son, Zane Spudes, age 29.
Both died from smoke inhalation and there were no signs of foul play.
Huntsville Fire & Rescue officials confirmed the deaths of two adults following a blaze that gutted a home early Saturday morning.
The fire happened in the early hours at a home on the 3900 block of Pickett Drive Southwest, just north of McDonnell Elementary School.
HFR said seven units responded to fight the fire, which ultimately gutted the home.
Two people were found inside and were pronounced dead.
A spokesperson for Huntsville Fire & Rescue said the cause appears to be accidental. The identities of the victims were not released.
