Alabama A&M brings 'standing Butch' back as licensed logo

Alabama A&M University on Monday unveiled a new version of its traditional standing Butch logo, which had been retired years ago

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Fans of Alabama A&M University have a new way to show their school spirit.

The school on Monday re-introduced its standing "Butch" logo -- offering a new take on something that had been retired years earlier.

The new-look Butch has been approved as an alternate mark for the school and will be available on licensed products effective immediately.

“As we prepare to celebrate 150 years, the Butch logo is now refined to allow Bulldogs of the future to connect with AAMU history and show pride through traditional insignia,” said Assistant Vice President for Advancement and Branding Aaron Thompson. “The updated design maintains the traditional form while implementing a few impactful changes that both modernize and increase its functionality across platforms and applications.”

Joe Bosack & Co. partnered with the university on the re-design. The agency has helped develop logos for the NCAA Final Four, the University of Georgia, Mississippi State University, the Orange Bowl, Boise State University and the SEC Football Championship.
