2-year-old drowning victim in Eva rescued

When Deputies arrived the child was unresponsive, but they quickly began CPR and were able to get a faint pulse and shallow breaths as EMS arrived.

EVA, Ala. — The Morgan County Sheriff's Office gave an update on the rescue of a child from a drowning in Eva.

On a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said,

Last night, Deputies responded to a call of a drowning involving a 2 yr old child in the Eva area.

When Deputies arrived the child was unresponsive but they quickly began CPR and were able to get a faint pulse and shallow breaths as EMS arrived. They then initiated a Landing Zone for Air Evac Helicoptor to transport the child to Huntsville Hospital.

As of this morning the child is in ICU. Our thoughts and prayers are with him!

We never want to have these types of calls but are proud to work with the professionals at Morgan County 911, Lifeguard Ambulance Service LLC, Air Evac and our area EMS and VFDs!

Wednesday night on Twitter, they said, "Deputies administer CPR as area first responders respond to a potential drowning in the Eva community involving a small child. Air Evac underway."

WZDX will bring you more information as it becomes available.
