HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Dozens of people came out to Huntsville Hospital Thursday to watch the Alabama National Guard fly over the building.
The National Guard sent out the KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft from the 117th Air Refueling Wing to show appreciation to the nurses and other workers on the front lines during the pandemic.
The flyover lifted spirits and allowed for people to practice social distancing.
A Grissom High School student watched the flyover. He says he appreciates the sign of hope during this hard time.
Christopher Holbert said, "I think it was a pretty good sight to see, especially since a lot of people are starting to lose a little bit of hope, so the fact that they are still making that little difference, it's all pretty good."
The plane also flew over hospitals in Decatur and Madison.
