ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Alabama Task Forces 1 and 3 have wrapped up their assignment in Florida and are returning home.

AL-TF3, which incorporates first responders from north Alabama, said on Monday that it had begun the demobilization process.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to assist the Florida Division of Emergency Management and their residents in the wake of #HurricaneMilton," AL-TF3 said in a post to social media, thanking officials in Madison, Guntersville, Fort Payne and Marshall County for their support. "Finally, we want to give a huge shout out and THANK YOU to our families who have been back home keeping life together while we were away, we know that it’s stressful while we are gone and we couldn’t do this without your support and sacrifice."

Teams from Alabama had been integrated with Florida Task Force teams for search, rescue and recovery efforts since Hurricane Milton's landfall last week.

AL-TF1 and AL-TF3 had been working largely in the areas of Tampa, St. Petersburg and Palm Harbor.
