MADISON COUNTY, Ala — A problematic pothole has been fixed -- but not before taking a toll on an uncertain number of vehicles.
Drivers got a jolt over the past few days as they came into contact with the destructive divot, which was in the left lane of westbound I-565 near the turn off to Huntsville International Airport.
FOX54 spoke with workers at a local tire shop who knew of at least 15 customers whose vehicles were damaged from the pothole.
Others shared their frustrations online.
"I just popped a tire because you can't see it. Several cars on side of road," one person posted on Facebook Saturday. "An officer was out there when I came to change (the) rim and tire and she said 13 cars had hit that same hole today."
Another wrote:
"Happy Friday the 13th to me!... It's huge, deep, and not only damaged my tire, but also bent my wheel as well."
FOX54 contacted ALDOT about the concerns and a spokesperson replied that a crew was dispatched Monday morning to fix the roadway. Those repairs are complete.
