SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced on Tuesday that it has awarded over $145,000 in state funding to improve local airports in the state, including one in North Alabama.
Scottsboro Municipal Airport will receive $188,107 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and $10,450 from a state grant to update its airport master plan, bringing the total project value to $209,008.
Other airports set to receive grants include Foley Municipal Airport, Bay Minette Municipal Airport, Prattville Airport, Shelby County Airport, Southwest Alabama Regional Airport, and Wetumpka Municipal Airport.
Recently, other airports in North Alabama also received grants for upgrades.
These grants are part of ALDOT’s Alabama Airport Improvement Funding Program, which offers financial assistance for the acquisition, construction, expansion, maintenance, or operation of public airport facilities.
