ALEA canceled BLUE Alert for suspect accused of injuring a State Trooper

The state issued a BLUE Alert regarding an injured State Trooper in an effort to locate the suspect.

LIVINGSTON, Alabama — ALEA canceled BLUE Alert for a suspect accused of injuring a State Trooper.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued a BLUE Alert on November 20 regarding an injured State Trooper. The state's announcement of the alert can be read below:

The State of Alabama has issued an Emergency BLUE Alert. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, State Bureau of Investigation is asking for your assistance in locating Randy Lee Wade. Wade is being sought in connection to the injury of an Alabama State Trooper and is believed to be a serious risk to the public. Wade was last seen on November 19, 2021, at approximately 11:45pm at Alabama Highway 28 & I20/59 in Livingston, Alabama. If you have any information regarding the location of Randy Lee Wade, please contact the State Bureau of Investigation at (334) 676-7250 or call 911.

ALEA later released an additional statement regarding the incident:

On Friday, Nov. 19, a Trooper assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division was assaulted while attempting to execute an arrest of a suspect. ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has opened an investigation into the incident. The Trooper was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident and is currently recovering. The suspect, identified as Randy Lee Wade, 57, a black male, 5’ 11’’, weight 135 pounds of Sumter County is currently at large and is considered armed and extremely dangerous, if you have any information concerning his whereabouts, please contact the Tuscaloosa Highway Patrol Post at 205-553-5531 or call 334-676-7250. Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Sumter County District Attorney’s Office.
